Sidcup medical centre enhances patient care with remote patient monitoring

28 November 2023

The DOC@HOME digital remote monitoring platform helps GPs manage patients in their own place of residence or within care homes by providing remote patient monitoring across the UK.

In 2019, EMIS and Docobo developed an interface that enables GPs and other healthcare professionals using EMIS Web to access DOC@HOME patient data using a single sign on, helping healthcare teams to manage their workflows more effectively.

How Sidcup Medical Centre is using remote monitoring

Sidcup Medical Centre (SMC) plays a key part in the monitoring programme for 8 care homes across the Bexley in Kent.

By using the DOC@HOME remote monitoring technology, care home residents’ health and wellbeing can be actively managed, whilst swiftly alerting duty doctors at SMC to a patient’s deterioration or change in condition.

A seamless integration with EMIS Web allows Sidcup Medical Centre to have easy access to a patient’s remotely monitored data without needing to log into DOC@HOME. Staff simply log into EMIS Web to access the interactive 28-day patient view from DOC@HOME, which includes vital patient information including: blood pressure, blood oxygen, temperature and symptoms.

In addition to patient data, EMIS Web users can also access our extensive feature set, including management of alerts and patient messaging – including sending educational and self-help videos.

How ‘single sign on’ functionality benefits the service

Dr Sid Deshmukh, lead clinician at Sidcup Medical Centre explains:

It’s amazing to be able to access information about the care home resident on the DOC@HOME system via our EMIS GP system.

We’ve now got consistency of clinical detail on the care home resident at the click of a button, which comes with the regular observations that the care homes take. Previously, when the duty doctor was alerted to a care home resident’s deterioration via the remote monitoring system, they would need to log into two separate systems: EMIS and DOC@HOME in order to access other patient medical details. Now the clinician can access both systems with a click of a button – simple, easy, quick and leading to enhanced patient care.
